For this task, I have to analyze five job advertisements which would include what the requirements and what aspects I could do to make myself more suitable for these jobs.

Monark Kids Collection Job Ad

I decided to start off with something easy which would be an internship. And something that fits my skills and experience well.

This position calls for “Strong Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator skills and willingness to learn.” I think I meet these easily I have been working with photoshop for almost three years now and understand them pretty well and I am also always willing to learn. This internship is barebones when it comes to requirements. It is an unpaid internship, after all, they are clearly looking for a student.

2. Kitman Labs – Freelance Graphic Designer.

This advertisement is clearly I step up. It requires so much more if compared to the internship you can really see the difference it doesn’t want some random student who knows photoshop and illustrator it wants someone who knows what they’re doing.

The requirements of the position are:

  • Strong ability to interpret and develop briefs into strong visual communication solutions
  • Exceptional typography skills
  • Mad skills with Corel and Adobe Photoshop, Indesign & Illustrator CC on Mac OS
  • HTML/CSS knowledge
  • Social media savviness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knows how to lead & motivate working solo at times
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to find solutions and take initiative

In regards to my skills that meet these requirements:

  • I have had multiple briefs in my student career so I can definitely have the ability to interpret briefs and develop strong solutions.
  • With over 2.5 years of working with type and typography, I defiantly have a good grasp on the subject perhaps even “Exceptional”.
  • As for “Mad Skills” with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign I have multiple years experience with them so if that isn’t made skill I don’t know what is. As for as working on Mac, I’m pretty comfortable working on Mac as I do it all the time in college and I also have a decent understanding of HTML/CSS.  As for this program named Corel after a quick google and some youtube videos I can say it doesn’t look hard at all to you so I think I can learn it with much hassle.
  • As for Social Media Savviness, it’s almost a given for someone of my generation.
  • In regards to written skills, I think you can tell I have amazing skills just by reading this blog and I have the verbal skills to match.
  • I can lead myself easily and motivate myself for projects.
  • I can work efficiently under pressure from my many years of working in a busy restaurant.
  • I think I can find solutions for complex problems and also enjoy thinking outside the box and creating the best product.
